Senior Volunteers: Sambhali Needs You!

Volunteering never gets old, even if you do!

Here at Sambhali we’re all about opportunities for everyone, whatever your age, background or field of expertise. We’re always looking for volunteers and we’d love to hear from you if you’re 50 + and looking to give back while immersing yourself in the colourful culture of India.

Our volunteers range from ages 18 – 80, all from different walks of life, with a variety of skills and experience to offer. From keen knitters, fab teachers or anything in-between, we’d love to hear from you!

“Last year I was on a guided tour of India and we visited the Sambhali Trust. I was impressed by the work that they were doing for disadvantaged women that I decided to return. I am recently retired and I wanted to give my time to a worthwhile organisation that needed my help.” - Barbara

Barbara, one of our volunteers.

Forget overnight trains and staying in a different bed every night; to really experience India you need to immerse yourself in its people, culture and food, and Sambhali is the perfect place to do it! Located in Jodhpur, there’s plenty of rich history and cultural hotspots surrounding us that are only a daytrip away. Feeling adventurous? Udaipur, Pushkar and Jaiselmer are the perfect choice for a weekend away.

Why are we reaching out to volunteers’ aged 50+?

·      You’re minds are broad, you’re experienced and you’ve great ideas to give
·      We love it that you’re passionate about your field of expertise
·      You’ve got real life experience and you’re able to use this practically in your work
·      You bring balance into the mix of volunteers and the best progress is made when different ages work together!

Why should you volunteer at Sambhali?

·      If you want to make an impact on the lives of women who face social and economic hardship in India
·      If you’d like to put your invaluable skills to use while having the experience of a lifetime
·      If you want to discover the colourful culture of India but you’d rather not do it alone

Currently we’ve got this powerful four volunteering with us:

From left to right: Barbara, Shula, Sheena and Lynda.

If you thought that getting older means you’re past it, you’re completely wrong – Sambhali needs people like you! As a volunteer, you’ll stay at Durag Niwas Guesthouse in a private or shared room with hot showers and your food and filtered drinking water is provided.

Send us an email: info@sambhali-trust.org or take a look at our website: http://www.sambhali-trust.org

We appreciate it when volunteers can stay for one month or more to really benefit from the experience and to ensure consistency for the women and girls that we teach.
