Positive signs on Sambhali's fight against Covid 19, update on Sambhali's Nirbhaya Helpline and Sambhali Boutique

Positive signs on fight against Covid 19

There is relieving news on Covid 19 here. The positive cases are now showing the signs of decline for the past few days. With the festive season of Diwali approaching, this is good news for all of us, who have been looking forward to the return to pre-lockdown normality, especially with the economy getting on track. The development is also an acknowledgement of tireless efforts of the government and its agencies to sensitize and to encourage people to keep precautions like wearing masks and keeping distance.

We also have been constantly working with the city administration in this drive to fight against Covid 19, which had commenced with making and distributing masks to the police and administrative officials in August. With this making of masks also is in progress and we are close to our target of 15000 masks. All of the masks, made so far, have been provided to the administrative officials and Municipal Corporation for their mask bank free as well as their free distribution to the people on the roads.

Trust’s anti-Covid endeavours have also been recognized and appreciated by the city administration time and again. The officials of administration have not only endorsed our efforts but have also preferred to partner with us to take this fight to the ground.

Recently in a meeting with the voluntary organizations of the city, the District Magistrate Mr. Indrajeet Singh shared with other participants, the work of the volunteers of our Trust and appreciated us for our initiatives and ideas like “Toko, Corona Roko” (Intervene and Stop Corona) and “Mharo Mask, Mhare Shahar Ro Maan” (My Mask, Pride of My City). Jodhpur Municipal Corporation has also provided us with some vehicles for the campaign, which have joined Trust’s 4 vehicles, already taking rounds of the city sensitizing people and distributing masks free. Trustee Mr. Virendra Singh and volunteers Saurav, Ranveer and Praveen have been walking the narrow market lanes of the walled city with a public address system appealing people to wear masks and maintain distance.

This week we also muster support of very special volunteers (transgender community) to boost our drive against Covid. We owe the community head of Jodhpur seat, Kamla Bua, for accepting our proposal to join us in this fight without any hitch. 18 of their volunteers are walking with us in markets asking people to wear masks in their own style. People first hesitate on their intervention and then quickly follow their advice.

Sambhali Nirbhaya Project Workshops

While our psychologist Ms. Abhilasha and legal expert Ms. Shivani are already providing much needed counselling and guidance through our Helpline to the aggrieved callers, the victims of gender-based exploitation or atrocities, we have also launched workshops on Domestic Violence and Mental Health at our centers in Jodhpur. These two experts have been joined by 3 more volunteers Ms. Palak and Ms. Falguni, both advocates, and Ms. Anukriti, a journalist.

Another proud moment guys!
Good afternoon all, this is the broad interactive CNN just published on global domestic violence.

The entire team of 5 very enthusiastic members has been striking discussions with the women and girls of our centers on various aspects of gender-based violence and persuading them to open up about the subject for an objective discussion. They are encouraging them to ask questions, share doubts and seek solutions to this very social problem victimizing the females.

Sambhali Boutique gears up for festive season

Our sewing team has prepared new products with the festive season in view. Ms. Kavita and Ms. Rashi have worked tirelessly harnessing their creative instincts to come out with some very beautiful designs for Xmas tree decoration and other festive occasions ahead. The sewing center team have devotedly worked on these designs and worked wonders on converting them into reality with their craft skills. This is a very encouraging development in the time when we all are struggling to return to normal routine at our centers.

Trying to make a comeback in business and not being able to open our Boutique in Jodhpur, we are still providing work for 10 of our graduates, who desperately rely on their income from the Sewing Centre. We are introducing a new range of beautiful hand-crafted products for Diwali, Xmas and New Year and we do hope you like them...!
